Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 770 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California. The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stevenson School is seeking a School Counselor, Grades 9-12 to start July 1, 2025. Reporting to the director of counseling, the school counselor is a vital member of the Health and Wellness Team, supporting the overall social emotional health of the community. Focusing on student well-being, the Counselor will identify and respond to student psychological and emotional challenges through short- and long-term counseling, as well as crisis intervention and risk assessment. The school counselor is also a member of Stevenson’s crisis response team.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and effective clinician with demonstrated expertise in social-emotional wellness within this age group. The successful candidate will additionally present a positive, flexible, and helpful attitude, understand organizational or independent school culture, be a skilled communicator with a demonstrated history of impeccable judgment, discipline, and collegiality in managing complicated situations with varied constituencies. Experience working with students from historically under-represented populations and from other countries is especially welcome. This is a full-time, 10-month/year position based at Stevenson’s Pebble Beach campus.

Estimated salary for this position is $70,000 - $95,000, annually, based on experience. In addition to competitive salary, Stevenson offers a generous benefits package that includes a menu of Anthem health plan options, retirement plan contributions, life insurance, and professional development opportunities. Housing support is available for eligible employees and a monthly fuel stipend is provided for employees who commute to campus. Lunch in the School’s dining facilities is included daily for all employees when school is in session.
