Kiandra IT is one of Australia’s leading IT service providers and is currently seeking a highly motivated and passionate Senior Business Analyst to join our team in the Melbourne CBD office.

Working within the business analysis team, your main responsibilities will be the planning, estimation, discovery, distillation, specification and management of requirements across a diverse client and project base. Our ideal candidate has a can-do attitude and thrives in a dynamic environment, adapting with speed and agility to changing demands, driving and influencing initiatives and outcomes.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Attributes

You must be:

  • Able to demonstrate a real drive and passion for building software – great software!
  • Professional, personable, polite and communicative with highly-developed interpersonal skills who finds it easy to build rapport with clients and collaborate with your peers
  • Analytical, logical, and creative – you must be an excellent problem solver
  • Pragmatic and flexible, you deal well with dynamic and fast-paced environments
  • Motivated and self-reliant with the resourcefulness, ingenuity and initiative to make a significant contribution to the successful delivery of projects
  • Masterful in the art of balancing clients, budgets, time, needs, constraints, relationships and outcomes
  • Diplomatic, patient, open-minded and impartial with the ability to negotiate with stakeholders to help them reach consensus – you must be able to amicably persuade and influence
  • Honest, with a high degree of integrity and quality in all that you do
  • Expert at logically and methodically eliciting and distilling requirements from clients
  • Zealous about completeness, accuracy and attention to detail – but not obsessed
  • Deeply committed to providing exemplary requirements information and have the skills and experience to choose the format for the structuring and presentation of requirements
  • A demonstration of tenacity, sharp focus and high standards
  • An advocate for the user, usability, the customer, brilliant design and profitable projects
  • An inquisitive researcher who enjoys keeping up to date with best-practice and industry news
  • Emotionally intelligent / confident / committed / responsible / humble (i.e. a Carlton supporter!)

 

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum of 5 years as a BA
  • Experience and confidence consulting to clients on multiple projects
  • Multiple project experience in building web-based business applications
  • Structured approaches to planning and managing business analysis activities
  • Running project-inception, planning, prioritisation, showcase and retrospective sessions
  • Great personal organisation and task management skills
  • Adept at visually exploring and discovering requirements through the use of wireframes and/or interactive prototypes
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written – you are an articulate speaker, a great active-listener and write clearly, succinctly and unambiguously
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and facilitation of group discussions/sessions
  • Capturing and specifying requirements using a variety of methods according to the demands and nature of the engagement, client or team – including:
    • wireframes
    • user stories
    • structured statements for business, functional and non-functional requirements
    • business domain models
    • process/activity diagrams
  • Estimation techniques and concepts – including:
    • planning poker
    • story points
    • ideal-time
    • task-based
  • Ability to work independently and also collaboratively as part of a close knit team
  • Being observant of details – please provide a cover letter in response to this addressing the points above and below with your experience and the contribution you will make to each
  • Modelling/diagramming, ideally UML 2+
  • Confidence in engaging with and managing client interactions at all levels – you are attentive and great at managing client relationships
  • Multiple-project experience utilising Scrum, XP, Kanban or similar Agile approaches
  • Flexibility and experience in utilising a variety of approaches, methodologies or working-practices when adapting to each unique engagement

 

You will ideally also:

  • Be an evangelist for the BA profession, who blogs, presents and practices what they preach
  • Have used JIRA, Greenhopper and Confluence or similar/equivalent tools
  • Have some experience in iteration management / project management
  • Have some experience with mobile (iOS, Android, Windows Mobile) application development
  • Have been a software developer / designer / architect in a past life, with strong technical skills
  • Have experience and skills in business process analysis and familiarity with BPMN
  • Have familiarity or experience with DDD, TDD and/or BDD concepts
