Building Engineer

• Work independently with minimal supervision and diagnose complex problems, identify innovative and creative solutions, apply reasoned judgement, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments as appropriate.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine the layout of systems including water supply networks, waste drainage systems as well as gas supplies, heating pipework and any equipment used on these systems.
• Responsible for mechanical service calls and in-house repairs throughout company facilities.
• Technical assistance to other departments for troubleshooting
• Automation support of utilities.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in troubleshooting mechanical systems, ie Emergency Generators, HVAC, Compress Lab Gas
• Knowledgeable and skilled in performing and overseeing vendor maintenance programs related to Cold rooms, PM Steam Boilers, Hot water boilers, Chillers, and Cooling Towers.
• Manages Electrical Work

• SME for CRs
• Engineering Standards Control
• Proactive Preventative Maintenance
• In addition, this position will Provides on call response to building system and equipment alarms on a rotating basis in conjunction with other Facilities Department personnel.

• Technical Degree in engineering studies and 3-4 years’ experience performing equipment maintenance with basic mechanical and electrical work.
• Person must be a self-motivated and flexible individual who can manage multiple priorities and work within a fast-paced lab and office environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to assist others.
• Must be a self-starter and work independently.
• Experience using AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Organizational skills required.
• Individual must obtain either a Refrigeration Operating Engineer License or a Grade 3 Steam Engineer License or complete the second level of a Building Operator Certification program within 9 months of job acceptance.
