Position Summary
The Development Associate reports to the Vice President, Development and Operations, and is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of individual donors, assisting with corporate sponsors, and supporting online fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include the identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and other activities related to seeking major investments in the organization. The Development Associate will advance the organization’s initiatives by working closely with the programming teams to identify support opportunities for donors and industry partners at all levels.
Responsibilities
The Development Associate is a key member of the fundraising team and is expected to collaborate with colleagues across the organization to develop quality engagement and stewardship opportunities, to maximize the giving experience for donors, and improve the accuracy of Salesforce data. With guidance from the VP, Development and Operations, and the Marketing and Communications team, the Development Associate plans and implements the annual giving, major giving, and planned giving fundraising programs including, but not limited to, identifying prospects, writing appeals, and making phone calls. The Development Associate also assists with acquiring new corporate sponsors by doing outreach, setting meetings, creating proposals, and logging notes and follow-up tasks.
General
• Work with Development and Operations staff to create and implement fundraising plans
• Work with Marketing and Communications team to support fundraising programs
• Special projects as needed
Prospect and Data Management
• Maintain donor prospect pipeline
• Research donors’ ability to give to identify major giving prospects
• Implement donor stewardship plan
• Manage gift acknowledgement process
• Log meeting notes and create follow up tasks in Salesforce
Fundraising
• Manage personal portfolio of prospects through email, phone, Zoom, and face-to-face meetings when applicable to educate them about Sepsis Alliance priorities, and assist in managing VP and CEO’s portfolios
• Expand the annual giving and major gifts programs ($1,000+)
• Maintain giving reports to track progress each month
• Analyze fundraising outcomes to determine effectiveness
• Plan and implement strategies to convert event donors to organization donors
• Assist with online fundraising and event management and planning
• Create and maintain pitch documents for industry involvement
• Assist with company research and prioritization of outreach to potential partners
• Assist with sponsor and donor deliverables to ensure completion of activities and all sponsor benefits received
• Create annual partnership reports for corporate sponsors
Experience and Qualifications
• At least 3 years of non-profit development experience
• Experience in fundraising call-center preferred
• At least 1 year of experience working fully remote
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Database experience – Salesforce preferred
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• Ability to manage positive relationships with funders, colleagues, and partners
• Ability to work independently, manage own projects and timelines
• Interest and ability to suggest new projects and process improvements
• Education, experience, or interest in not-for-profit management and/or healthcare a plus
