At Magna Electronics, we are at the forefront of developing and manufacturing cutting-edge products such as cameras, radar, and other sensors for modern vehicles. Our mission is to lead the way in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and the future of autonomous cars.

A thesis internship at Magna offers students the opportunity to delve into a high-tech automotive company. Throughout your internship, you will receive mentorship and guidance, allowing you to apply your theoretical knowledge to practical, real-world scenarios.

Subject: Investigationof strain optimized PCB design solutions for camera systems in the automotiveindustry.

Background:
The large temperature range and fluctuation in a car is a critical parameter to handle from a design perspective, especially the PCB.

Purpose:
Create a guideline that the design team can use to reduce the strain in the PCB over its lifetime when assembled in a camera system. To achieve this, the thesis worker will for example need to:

Do research to understand why strain optimization on PCB’s are important and how the strain occurs

Do research about PCB design and materials

Generate, evaluate and refine concepts

Perform simulations

Field:
ProductDevelopment and Mechanical Engineering

Learning objectives:

Apply theory behind product development into practice

Learn how to efficiently collect requirements and set a baseline for the product development

Design For Manufacturing earn how to evaluate a concept using tests and simulations

Number of student(s): 1-2

Student background: Product Development and Mechanical Engineering

Extent: 30 credits (Master)

Start: Spring 2025

Location: Linköping

Contact information and Supervisor:
David Hanberger, david.hanberger@magna.com

Last application date: 2024-10-31, applications will be evaluated continuously.

•
