Institutional Giving Manager

Rubicon Programs is seeking an Institutional Giving Manager to join us in breaking the cycle of poverty in the East Bay. For over 50 years, Rubicon has worked in East Bay communities to empower participants toward economic mobility. Last year alone, Rubicon served over 1,800 adults across program sites in Antioch, Concord, Hayward, Oakland, and Richmond. Rubicon is committed to achieving its impact by providing holistic reentry and workforce development services across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Development

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Institutional Giving Portfolio Management: Leadership and responsibility for managing institutional fundraising goals. Develop and manage an annual grants calendar to track proposals and reporting timelines, maintain ongoing communication with institutional and corporate partners, and submit proposals and reports. Manage Rubicon’s portfolio of institutional giving relationships. Work with the Development Director and Chief Development Officer to ensure annual fundraising goals are met.
  • Grant Writing and Development: Responsible for writing, editing, and finalizing narrative content; compile attachments as needed to submit grant applications. These include letters of intent, grant applications via online portal systems, multi-year proposals, and government contracts. Lead project management of grant writing consultants as needed.
  • Grant Prospecting: Develop, maintain, and update a prospect list of potential institutional partners, including foundations, corporations, and public entities.
  • Foundation and Corporate Grant Reporting: Responsible for writing, editing, and finalizing grant reports for corporate and foundation partners. This includes content development as needed, compiling required attachments, finalizing and submitting reports. Track progress towards annual institutional giving goals.
  • Contract Report Managment: For a select number of contracts, prepare narrative and coordinate financial reports detailing funded projects' progress and outcomes, in partnership with program and finance staff for submission.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong partnership across stakeholders, internally and externally. This includes working with a variety of teams across Rubicon (i.e. finance, HR, programs) and with foundation, corporate, and public agencies.
  • Project and Database Management: Responsible for managing, updating and maintaining project management system for task management, tracking workflow progress, etc. Manage and update institutional and corporate Salesforce accounts; generating monthly reports to track progress of fund development efforts. Maintain records of all grant-related documents and communications.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate, maintain, and strengthen relationships with current and prospective institutional funders. Participate and/or lead meetings to engage institutional funders and provide updates on funded projects. Serve as the main point of contact for most institutional donors, ensuring effective communication and stewardship.

COMPETENCIES

  • Nonprofit development experience
  • Minimum 2 years grant writing experience
  • Experience securing grants of $100,000 or more
  • Strong project management and planning skills
  • Excellent communication with strong writing and editing skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills; ability to effectively collaborate internally and externally
  • Strong attention to detail, growth mindset, and learning agility
  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and actively engage as a team member
  • Resourcefulness, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Strong computer literacy and database management proficiency
  • High ethical standards, discretion, and tact

If you don't currently possess our organizational core competencies of Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing and Coaching, and Cultural Responsiveness you are expected to participate in the necessary training Rubicon provides.

 

This position requires occasional travel for meetings. If the individual opts to meet these travel requirements by driving, proof of a valid and current driver license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • $77,500 - 87,500 annually
