Physician Assistants needed to manage and serve the needs of surgical patients in a Level 1 Adult Level 2 Pediatric American College of Surgeons Verified Trauma Center. Actively seeking candidwayneate to work within our Sub-Specialty service group. Surgical divisions that will be managed through Physician Assistant support include Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Urology. Work assignments will vary depending on skills, interests, and program needs. Dynamic position with functions in the outpatient clinic, emergency department, in-patient units, and operating rooms. Manage and collaborate on the care of patients across the continuum of admission.
Responsibilities include:
• Obtaining detailed and accurate history and performing history and physical examination on patients presenting to the clinic or hospital.
• Develop assessment and therapeutic plan and provide ongoing patient care throughout admission.
• Collaborate with attending and other disciplines throughout admissions to develop plan of care
• Input daily, pre/post-operative, and as needed orders
• Initiates consultations and refer patient for diagnostic testing based off assessment and collaboration with primary attending
• Performs functions in the operating room as First or Second assist
• Participates in Daily rounds to observe and record pertinent progress of patients, updating and summarizing charts, writing orders and progress notes, and notifying the physician of any changes in the patient's condition as appropriate.
• Collaborate within the surgical PA team to address the needs of the surgical patient
Requirements:
-Graduate Degree from an accredited PA School required.
-Licensure as a PA in New York State required.
-Certification as a PA by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) OR 5 years surgical PA experience is required.
-For graduates prior to 1986, completion of degree from non-accredited program is acceptable if certified through PANCE exam (Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination) required.
-BLS & ACLS certificate required.
