Position Description
Common House is looking for an experienced community builder and sales professional. This individual needs to be a charismatic, highly social person who thrives in a customer-facing role. The Membership Sales Manager has an unrivaled network in Charlottesville. The Membership Sales Manager is a city resident with extensive knowledge of Charlottesville’s politics, diverse communities, corporate organizations and social scenes. The Membership Sales Manager is a leader who employs innate charm and genuinely appreciates connecting with others. A person as familiar with selling an experience and closing deals, as they are with the day to day management of tools, budgets, plans, and strategies. A connector who is comfortable with outreach, has excellent drive and attention to detail, polished presentation skills and a natural ability to build relationships.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Membership Growth
- Annually identify key players in the local community to ultimately build a diverse, and influential Membership that is representative of the broader market
- Work towards monthly, quarterly and annual goals set forth by the leadership team to hit new member growth numbers through direct sales outreach
- Complete weekly outreach tasks through networking externally, sourcing new leads and emailing potential membership opportunities
- Work closely with the Director of Operations and Membership Director to build a community-focused strategy around membership growth offering promotions throughout the year to reach specific demographics and communities
- Identify key businesses in the area to generate Corporate Membership packages and relationships
- Process all applications of new members
- Give tours to potential new members, focusing on CH’s community-building mission
Community Partnership & Outreach
- Identify key nonprofits and other local organizations for partnerships and community engagement opportunities
- Serve as a brand ambassador for Common House in the Charlottesville community through attending at least four local networking events monthly
Membership Retention
- Engage with current members to improve member experience and retention while using these relationships to grow membership through member referrals
- Monitor cancellation feedback and any additional membership feedback surveys to identify opportunities for improvement, and collaborate with other department leads as needed
- Host at least one monthly member networking event (e.g. New Member Happy Hour, Community Connections) and work closely with the front and back of house teams to ensure event details are clear across departments
- Execute the Common Ground program in conjunction with the Communications team annually and work with various members of the team for the selection process
Billing, Analysis & Reporting
- Participate in weekly All-Team meetings, reporting on member applications, cancellations, pause requests, etc., and any other pertinent membership discussion items
- Prepare monthly reports for Monthly All-Team reviews, reporting on key performance metrics, summarizing trends as needed
- Manage monthly membership budget to ensure spend does not exceed allotted funds
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of sales experience
- Proven experience with customer relationship management
- Ability to problem solve and manage conflict
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently
- Proven networking experience
- Leadership & interpersonal relations
- Must be organized and detail oriented
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Must reside in Charlottesville.
- Must be available to work extended hours including evenings and some weekends.
- Ability to travel for training and required events.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to provide frequent tours of the club
- Requires the physical mobility to sit and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Requires ability to drive during day and night hours in various weather conditions
