We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Electrical Technician with a mechanical mindset to work on our innovative high complexity products to join the team at SPT Labtech. You will receive full training and support from our fantastic manufacturing team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Wire and assemble electrical control panels for industrial machines and scientific instruments based on schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Conduct basic testing and PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) on electrical installations to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Utilize tools such as Digital Voltmeters (DVM) and other testing equipment to diagnose and resolve electrical issues.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including any issues encountered and solutions implemented.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure all work meets industry standards and specifications.
  • Work on panels with AC voltages up to 400VAC and DC voltages up to 60VDC.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Proven experience in electrical panel wiring for a similar complex component manufacturer.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as Digital Voltmeters (DVM) and other relevant testing equipment
  • Knowledge of basic electrical testing and PAT (Portable Appliance Testing)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship

Qualifications:

  • Relevant electrical qualifications, such as a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services or equivalent
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) qualification is desirable
  • Certification in Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) would be an advantage 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring good manual dexterity.
  • Comfortable working at height (up to 2 metres) on raised platforms.
  • Capable of performing bench work and handling small components.
