Software Engineer I (CH2)

Favorite Medium is a global consultancy specialising in digital product design and development. Established in 2006, we have launched over 125 products for clients around the world in the energy, technology, and financial services verticals. You will be working to solve challenging problems with a group of talented teammates from diverse backgrounds.

We are looking for a meticulous, curious junior software engineer to join our growing team. An ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in computer science or engineering and deep knowledge of at least one object-oriented or functional programming language. Although this is initially a generalist role to start, after gaining experience there will be opporunities to work with senior engineers to specialize in data engineering, ML, applications (front end, mobile) and back end.

This position is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, a city known for its fantastic quality of life, diversity, amazing food, and great infrastructure. Visa processing and housing subsidy will be provided.

Requirements

• Substantial competence in one or more of the following languages
• C/C++
• Rust, Golang
• Haskell, Erlang, Elm
• Solid understanding of computer architecture (memory, processor, I/O, storage)
• SQL and data modeling
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential
• Openness to working in a global, location-independent team

Nice to have

• Experience working independently in remote working environment
• Exposure to design tools, such as Figma, Invision, Adobe XD, etc.
• Serverless functions
• React or Angular web frameworks
• Web Assembly (WASM)
• Experience in developing native or cross-platform mobile apps
• Active open source contributor
