Clinical Dietician (719907)

Position Purpose:

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for planning and organizing the nutritional care of patients, including those on prescribed diets.

Specific duties include:

1. Direct care interaction with patients. The employee is expected to interact with adult and geriatric populations, as appropriate.
2. Writes modified diets and adjusts recipes; conducts class in preparation and service of modified diet products.
3. Organizes a complete program of patient nutritional care including nutritional assessments, diet counseling, chart entries, treatment team participation, discharge counseling and nutritional education programs.
4. Recommends ordering and prepares specifications for specialized food products for therapeutic use.
5. Assists in the preparation of the annual budget by submitting forecasts of program needs.
6. Coordinates with the Food Service Manager to fill client nutritional needs concerning flavor, texture, and general acceptability of therapeutic menus. Plans the diet requirements and is responsible for the accuracy of the diets.
7. Attends and participates in inter- and intra-departmental clinical care of patients and recommends appropriate dietary regime with other clinical modalities.
8. Collects data for the nutritional audit component of the facility’s quality improvement program including, but not limited to, patient acceptance of food, food conformance to quality standards, diet adherence, diet menu review and annual review and revision of the diet manual.
9. Plans, schedules, teaches, and evaluates nutritional care programs for patients. Provides educational material to staff, community and families. Maintains, records, compiles, develops and evaluates educational materials and uses them as aids in current nutrition education.
10. Provides guidance and direction to lower level dietetic staff performing work in the nutritional care of patients.
11. Develops and documents all policies and procedures related to nutritional care and presents them to a higher level supervisor.
12. Performs related work as required.
13. Maintains computerized Food Service System.
14. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
15. Follows food service safety and sanitation standards.
16. Travels to different/other buildings on the hospital grounds and off grounds for training as needed.
    
    

Mandatory Requirements

The Clinical Dietitian must provide evidence of being a Registered Dietitian in good standing with the American Dietetic Association’s Commission on Dietetic Registration.

The Clinical Dietitian must provide evidence of being a Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist in good standing with the State of Pennsylvania.

The Clinical Dietitian must provide a copy of liability insurance documentation.

All licensing/certification and malpractice insurance must be maintained throughout the duration of the contract.

The Clinical Dietitian must provide evidence of completion of adequate and required continuing education needed to maintain dietitian registration and licensure.

The Clinical Dietitian must provide an equally qualified substitute Dietitian in the event of a prolonged absence.

The Clinical Dietitian must complete all assigned work on time as required by the facility and as specified by the Clinical Nutrition Manager and/or Director of Dietetic Services.

Measures

The Clinical Dietitian will communicate work issues on a weekly basis and complete a monthly written report that tracks the work completed. This report will be given to the Director of Dietetic Services.

Service/Hours

The Clinical Dietitian shall work 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday, for a total of 37.5 hours per week.
