The primary responsibility of the Quality Manager is implementation, support, and management of practices for assuring that products and processes adhere to specifications and standards and internal quality audits. The Quality Manager leads cross-functional lean projects to drive standardization, stabilization and simplification of the production process; drives lean implementation to improve operations and business processes across facilities. Responsibilities will also include managing company Quality Management System (QMS) providing a clear direction of quality systems to senior management and the organization as well as coordinating, preparing, and lead the organization in gaining and maintaining ISO certifications.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage the Quality team; monitor the performance of the department and ensure that needed resources are available and effectively utilized to meet short- and long-term departmental priorities:
- Implement and train all quality, manufacturing, and engineering team members on the proper and lean use of Process Control Plans, Inspection Plans, Internal Failure Analysis, Customer Failure Analysis & associated Corrective Actions, Process Validation (FMA, FMEA, HazOp) and Equipment Validation.
- Drive budget goals by driving lean product launches and ongoing process improvements, using tools such as FMEA’s, CIP’s, DOE’s, and other means of enhanced process control.
- Develop lean systems for balancing the requirements of daily manufacturing support, new product launches, and process improvements.
- Maintain Quality System, including: pursuit of Quality Policy goals, management of the internal audit process, facilitation of customer and ISO registrar audits; steering the Quality Council in providing the performance metrics of the Quality System process at prescribed intervals.
- Serve as an advocate for the customer in process and product quality related issues; manage nonconforming product and assure compliance of released product with customer requirements; manage corrective and preventive actions to systems, processes and product; monitor the performance of Quality Control; maintain quality assurance databases, reports, and files; oversee preparation of audit reports, identify and investigate in-house quality issues.
- Vendor management as it pertains to quality-based testing facilities.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience within a manufacturing organization functioning in a Quality process capacity.
- Candidates should have an understanding of engineered metal products and manufacturing process associated with tubing and high-speed stamping. In both a high-volume and low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with failure analysis methods (Internal & Customer) and associated processes utilizing the Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Experience managing Process & Inspection plans along with ISO 9001:2015 requirements. Familiarity with ISO-13485 is a plus.
- Experience using CAD, solid computer skills, and experience using inspection equipment with knowledge of statistical methods and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances).
- Knowledge using the FMEA process and past success improving cost & quality metrics because of successful implementation.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team within an organization experiencing substantial growth and implementing Lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Talent management skills should include review of current staff, training, developing, and ability to make subsequent staffing decisions in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science, preferably in Metallurgy, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent in related environment. Advanced degree preferred.
SALARY RANGE:
$85,000 - $110,000 per year
