Role: Accounting Manager, General Ledger
Location: This role will be remote in the continental United States, Alaska, or Hawaii
Reports to: Sr. Director of Accounting/Financial Controller

Summary:

The General Ledger Manager will maintain accounting books according to the GAAP as well as other regulatory requirements and organization’s internal policies. They will also assist the
Sr. Director of Accounting with day-to-day tasks and support the organization during the institutional, compliance and 403(b) retirement plan audits as well as in preparing reports related to compliance requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead General Ledger Team
- Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Standards
- Reconcile/ Review bank and other balance sheet accounts
- Review various account subledgers and ensure its accuracy
- Review/Book reclassification journal entries
- Review/Book accrual and deferral journal entries
- Review/Book journal entries to allocate expenses across various departments
- Consolidate financial statements of The Trevor Project and its subsidiaries
- Assist with other month-end and year-end closing tasks
- Lead GL area of Accounting Information System implementation projects
- Participate in accounting process design and documentation
- Support in developing various reports
- Assist with establishing a document organization and retention system
- Support in preparing audit samples and schedules for annual institutional audit
- Assist in preparing Federal and State reporting forms: Form 990, CHAR 500, CA Form 199 etc.
- Support in implementing internal control procedures and policies
- Assist Sr. Director of Accounting in day-to-day accounting tasks and be a backup in their absence.
- This role will also have access to critical operational information and will have influence over operational functions, and will be responsible for maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in General Ledger Accounting
- Experience with Project/ Cost accounting
- Experience working with Government grants
- Experience working with QBO, Bill.Com, Abacus etc.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience working on software implementation projects
- Experience working on preparing not for profit organization’s tax forms (Form 990, CHAR 500, RRF-1 etc.)
- Experience training and mentoring others
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
