Magnitude Capital, a dynamic alternative investment firm, seeks an investment professional with hedge fund or comparable buy-side experience to work as part of our tight-knit fund of hedge funds investment team.  Working with and learning from industry veterans, you will contribute to the management of our various portfolios.  The role affords direct insight into many leading hedge funds across strategies and asset classes.  The ideal candidate will have professional experience analyzing and trading public securities and will be excited to engage with the industry from a higher vantage point.  If you display a commitment to careful analysis and disciplined communication, even when faced with highly subjective judgments, this is an exceptional opportunity to develop as an investor.

 

What you will do:

• Research and make recommendations about prospective hedge fund investments in collaboration with other members of the team.
• Leverage robust analytical techniques to assess managers’ potential to generate diversifying risk-adjusted returns.
• Creatively structure analyses to glean insights from limited or weak data.
• Conduct strategy and market research to identify market inefficiencies and assess risk factors.
• Use your professional network to source and sharpen insights on prospective investments.
• Work with the Investing team to help structure and negotiate investment terms.
• Develop valuable domain expertise and garner relevant experience evaluating investment skill.

 

What you have:

• Passionate about financial markets: 7–12 years of financial experience; front-office role at a hedge fund or proprietary trading firm strongly preferred
• Rigorous approach to decision-making under uncertainty, demonstrating disciplined investment judgement and excellent analytical skills
• Familiarity with relative value hedge fund strategies
• Advanced quantitative and data analysis skills
• Collaborative mindset and firm-first mentality; history of working successfully in teams to generate positive outcomes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Proven track record of academic excellence

Compensation:

The budgeted *base salary* range starts at $170,000–$250,000. Total compensation will include base salary, performance-based bonus, and full benefits. Total package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be highly competitive relative to market. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
