The manager, member communities plays a crucial role in fostering engagement and building relationships through vibrant member communities designed to serve travel executives and deepen the value they receive from their investment in membership. This position will help craft and manage intentional, engaging member meetings for curated communities representing four key travel segments – group travel, international inbound, domestic leisure, and business transient – and other relevant working groups. In addition, this role will support preparation for association governing meetings (board, executive board, finance, membership and nominating committees). This role serves as a key member of the communities team and reports to the senior director, executive engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Execute strategy to engage key member communities throughout the year.
- Support community leads to create and manage meeting timelines; create, approve and distribute process of meeting agendas, pre-reads, remarks, visual products and meeting minutes, if needed.
- Partner with the events team to plan and execute dinners, meetings, member events and initiatives to promote engagement.
- Evaluate attendance and recommend proactive outreach plan to strengthen participation for relevant member events.
- Share meeting plans, outcomes, themes and trends with relevant colleagues.
- Draft quarterly communications for relevant member groups, bespoke outreach for community leads and targeted notes for the board and other executives.
- Mange group travel and international inbound community listservs and maintain accurate rosters in partnership with membership.
- Analyze board, group travel and international inbound community engagement quarterly to proactively identify changes in member activity.
- Partner with administrative assistant to schedule necessary internal and external meetings.
- Monitor corporate travel and airport member news to identify potential touchpoints to deepen relationships.
- Track and share communities budget progress bi-monthly.
- Learn and understand key U.S. Travel stakeholders, including board members and industry leaders.

Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years experience in membership, communications or industry affairs.
- Previous trade association experience is preferred.
- Outstanding proficiency in project management.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

- Position based in Washington, DC. U.S. Travel staff work in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
- Moderate travel (up to 1-2 times per month) is required.
