<p>Bio Products Laboratory (BPL), part of Kedrion Biopharma, has a new vacancy for a Chemistry Team Leader to join the Quality Department located in Elstree, Hertfordshire.</p><p>This exciting first-line management role within a laboratory setting will suit someone with experience supervising staff overseeing day-to-day operations and working to GMP standards. </p><p><strong>Duties & Responsibilities will include - </strong></p><p><strong>Authority and decision making</strong></p><ul> <li>Planning day-to-day work across the department.</li> <li>To assist with the delivery of departmental objectives. </li> <li>Ensure that KPIs are met.</li> <li>Raise and lead Minor + Major + Critical deviations</li> <li>Support Critical deviations</li> <li>Having awareness of all quality records within own area.</li> <li>Provide the necessary support for quality records to ensure they are completed within required timelines.</li> <li>Ensure OOSs when reported by the department are raised and investigated in accordance with procedure, supporting completion of investigations (Phase I and II) to ensure the right outcome is achieved. </li> <li>Tracking/trending of OOSs</li> <li>To recommend change controls and to lead and implement agreed actions.</li> <li>Deliver the training programme for the section through departmental metrics and business needs.</li> <li>Empowering the team to identifying the need for procedure updates and ensuring correct procedures are in place. Reviewing complex procedural updates, and responsible for approving less complex procedures.</li> <li>Ensuring sufficient resources are available, for routine work and any additional work taken on by the department communicating to line management when resource limitations exist</li> <li>Assisting with recruitment, such as identifying recruitment needs, reviewing CVs for suitable candidates, performing interviews and liaising with HR regarding selection and on boarding of successful candidates.</li> <li>Handling of issues</li></ul><p><strong>Budget / Capital Expenditure</strong></p><ul> <li>Monitoring of spending on consumables and equipment.</li> <li>Identifying the need for and raising orders.</li> <li>Contributing to preparation of annual OPEX and CAPEX plans.</li></ul><p><strong>People Management</strong></p><ul> <li>Responsible for the management of Senior Analysts, Analyst II and Analyst I staff.</li> <li>Undertaking annual performance reviews, performance management, disciplinaries (up to verbal warning), training, and mentoring.</li> <li>Delivery of the training plan for the section.</li> <li>Ensure that effective and target driven one-to-ones are delivered for all grades of analyst.</li> <li>Managing teams working multiple shift patterns.</li> <li>Managing teams working in laboratories and process areas.</li> <li>Supervising third party contractors e.g. servicing of laboratory equipment, testing production areas.</li></ul><p><strong>Project Management</strong></p><p>Delivering agreed projects within the laboratory and across manufacturing.</p><p><strong>Skills & experience to help you within the role – </strong></p><ul><li>BSc in relevant subject (or equivalent experience)</li><li>Demonstrated management skills.</li><li>Planning and organisation skills to be able run a section in terms of samples and staffing.</li><li>Capacity to grasp concepts easily.</li><li>Computer literate – competent in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel at an intermediate level. </li><li>Able to ensure high levels of quality are achieved.</li><li>Able to communicate clearly and persuasively with the team.</li><li>Problem solving.</li><li>Extensive laboratory experience and demonstrated competency in managing others</li><li>Competent in 70% of testing performed within department</li><li>Good knowledge/understanding of GMP/GLP.</li><li>Experience of managing or supervising laboratory analysts.</li><li>Experience in OOS and invalid assay investigations.</li><li>Experience of raising, completing, and investigating quality records.</li><li>BSc in relevant subject (or equivalent experience)</li><li>Requirement for business travel.</li><li>Offering support to the department outside of normal hours.</li><li>Requirement to represent the business outside of BPL.</li></ul><p><strong>In return we offer -</strong></p><p>We're looking for highly motivated and experienced people to drive the business forward.
