Crash CAE Engineer

• The Crash CAE Engineer will be responsible to manage US regulatory & non-regulatory structural development with a set of skilled engineers specialized in virtual engineering tools.
• Guide and mentor CAE Crash, Impact and Strength simulation engineers from model build to reporting on full vehicle programs. Occupant safety knowledge to guide the team required.

• Manage multiple resources and deliverables to meet demands of the development teams and program goals. Be able to manage and perform MDOs to find optimum solution to each change proposed by cross functional departments.
• Expected to mentor the team with technical expertise and prioritize the workload as well as managing special projects to improve fidelity of the model to get predictability and correlation. Responsible for Crashworthiness development of advanced vehicle structure concepts for a Vehicle
• Work towards meeting vehicle targets within program milestone timelines.
• The group is an integral part of the product development group, including daily interaction with product design, testing and functional development engineers.
• Uses CAE to generate full vehicle concepts and lead the cutting-edge unconventional vehicle designs without dependence on CAD data at times.
• Build and maintain component and full vehicle level CAE models to run relevant load cases using Hyperworks or ANSA suite of software.
• Balances all applicable Global Safety Requirements though US is a focus at present, for every specific area of responsibility based on the results of crash simulations.
• Performs Computer Aided Engineering simulations to evaluate full vehicle crashworthiness performance for high speed Frontal, Side, Rear impacts, etc. using LS-DYNA software
• Develop and use Safety CAE standard work procedures for all standard Crashworthiness loadcase simulations, including the most complex CAE tools and methods to optimize the structural designs.
• Improves structural efficiency - achieves improved performance with less mass (topology, shape, Weld/adhesive, gauge, lightweight materials, etc.).
• Stay abreast of latest CAE/simulation tools, methods and processes in the field of passive safety and structural crashworthiness.
• Sign-off and approve all analyses results and communicate findings and recommendations to various engineering organizations.
• Conduct or support component, sub-system and full vehicle testing. Testing followed by results synthesis, teardown, summary, follow-up actions and comprehensive report.

• Bachelors, Masters or Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Accredited University: Mechanical, Aero, Civil, Materials, Mechanics, Applied Physics
• 10+ years experience in full vehicle Crashworthiness simulation
• Good knowledge of fundamental physics and structural engineering principles
• Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
• Experience working on multiple projects/platforms.
• Good knowledge of regulatory safety standards and test protocols for US (FMVSS) and New Car Assessment programs (US-NCAP, EuroNCAP) as well as third party safety and insurance rating standards like IIHS.
• Experience in correlating models to physical test data and being able to guide design through predictive analysis
• Capable of executing all linear and all non-linear load cases in and proficient in structural DOE/parametrization/ optimization (this is a rare and highly valuable combination).
• Demonstrated proficiency in LS-DYNA, ANSA, PRIMER, ANIMATOR, HYPERWORKS and other CAE tools.
• Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technical software).
