Position: Human Resources Manager

Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for owning the HR function as a one-person HR department and managing all aspects of Human Resources including (but not limited to) recruitment; benefits; compliance; compensation; employee relations; policies and practices; and strategic planning.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  2. Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; ensures that proper compliance is followed.
  3. Provides HR support for all employees to ensure their full understanding of the company's workplace policies and procedures and their full engagement in it.
  4. Maintains job descriptions for all positions and rewrites job descriptions as necessary; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary; partners with management to address performance and employee relations issues.
  5. Conducts recruitment efforts for all exempt, nonexempt, and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checks; extends job offers; coordinates or conducts new-employee onboarding and orientation; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; coordinates or conducts exit interviews and further processes terminations.
  6. Conducts regular audits of the Company's payroll; benefits; I-9s; employee les; or other HR programs and recommends and executes corrective action.
  7. Establishes and maintains department records and reports, both on paper, digitally, and within the HRIS; maintains organizational charts and employee directory.
  8. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other job-related meetings, including (but not limited to) SHRM chapter meetings and seminars.
  9. Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals; recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of department and services performed.
  10. Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  11. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
  12. Creates, monitors, facilitates, and/or assigns training programs for all levels of the organization; keeps track of training records and training renewal dates.
  13. Engages in strategic planning, both for the success of the department and the success of the Company as a whole.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelors degree in a related field and 1 year of HR experience, or;
  2. 5 years of HR experience
  3. Able to read, write, and speak fluent English
  4. Pass pre-employment testing (drug screen, background check)

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Masters degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
  2. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or;
  3. HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR)

Must be authorized to work in the United States.
