Job Description: Work statement is a non-managerial role, non-leadership role
Staff physician in on-site occupational health clinic. Provides medical services, within the scope of a physician license, in areas such as, but not limited to, emergent, urgent and /or chronic conditions for employees, designated dependents and others. Provides assessment, treatment, and evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment plans making modifications as appropriate. Makes initial and subsequent opinions of work relatedness as needed. Determines appropriate referral of occupational injuries / illness. Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory work, EKG, x-rays) and recommends action based on the results. Reviews over-read data to corroborate diagnostic recommendations or determine alternative diagnoses. Performs focused exams specific to the patient's medical condition and exams designated by the company such as; occupational health surveillance examinations, fitness for duty, , Drug Free Workplace medical assessments, and others as required. Determines medical qualification based on the occupational health examination program guidelines.. Assesses employee for fitness for duty and return to work capability for complex cases. May provide consultation to other Health Care Providers as required. Determines medical restrictions as appropriate to the medical condition, documentation from treating provider, employee's essential job functions and the job demands. Determines appropriate treatment plan for occupational injuries / illness. Provides discharge instructions to patients. Documents health information and recommendations in companys electronic medical record system in accordance with company policy, state, and federal law. Ensures documentation provided for record-keeping requirements (e.g., OSHA injury and illness reporting, leave of absence, return to work, Workers' Compensation). Refers patients to appropriate company and community resources (e.g., Employee Assistance Program, Wellness, Industrial Athlete, Ergonomics, Workers' Compensation Administrators). Reviews external medical opinions such as; Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), medical accommodation requests or other information regarding health and fitness for duty determinations, to facilitate placement. Interfaces with community health care providers as needed. Provides complex medical consultation to employees, managers, work groups, organizational representatives, Legal, Workers' Compensation Administration and others regarding workplace health. Provides oversight and direction regarding diagnosis, treatment, and disposition to other health care professionals (e.g., nurses, laboratory technicians). Provides direction and supervision of Physician Extenders (such as, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and other Health Care Professionals) per state law and qualification requirements. Participates in company health committees.
Must have Qualifications
Must be DOT Certified - If they do not have DOT CERT, the must obtain within 6 months of starting
Must have WA State LNI Provider #
BLS Basic Life support Certified / CPR
Preferred Qualifications
Board certified occupational physician
Experience in occupational medicine delivery
Experience in out patient or walking clinic setting •
