The role:
We are looking for an Assistant Account Executive to join the growing Edelman Smithfield team. The candidate will be part of our specialized team of financial communications practitioners, gaining broad exposure to Edelman senior leadership and supporting on all core account tasks, including research and analysis, issues and media monitoring, client collateral and document development, execution of social media and digital strategies, and media relations and outreach.
This position is ideal for an individual looking to take part in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment, and to acquire the skills necessary to become a successful financial communications practitioner and advisor to companies of all sizes and operating across all industries.
Responsibilities:
- Support in creation of communications plans and goals, including development of both tactical and strategic elements, and manage against them
- Drives and executes strategic media relations programs
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of his/her clients’ businesses and their missions, as well as their key stakeholders: employees, investors, regulators, media, vendors, partners, and other businesses/organizations, etc., and will be able to impart this knowledge to account team members
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to delegate tactical assignments and accurately judge and edit the work of others
- Serves as daily client support and supports the client lead when appropriate
- Participate in the quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline/budget adherence
- Be a collaborative team member by motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, and holding yourself accountable
- Participate in new business processes including research, proposal, and pitch preparation
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Edelman’s values (Quality, Integrity, Respect, Entrepreneurial Spirit) and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
Basic Qualifications:
- This is an entry-level role
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments, and deadlines
- Organized and detail-oriented; able to multi-task various responsibilities
- Ability to think critically and demonstrate good judgment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively within a team is a must
- A solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, general office logistics, and knowledge of supporting communications platforms
- Strong work ethic and dedication to consistently provide quality work to his/her team and clients
- Candidates should be financially savvy and have relevant experience in financial communications and/or related experience in research, investment management, consulting, marketing, and finance
