About the company

Established in 2005, remote control productions (rcp)is an independent Munich production house for interactive entertainment, providing services for companies in the video game industry and adjacent spaces. Covering everything from HR, finance and legal support, rcp enables studios to get on with what they do best: creating great games. Our purpose is to empower, support, and emancipate game makers to create sustainably.

rcp is also the ‘mothership’ for a family of in countries all over the world. These group members operate across the interactive entertainment industry - developing their own projects with the support of rcp. This group of studios is a diverse team of over 500 individuals working in studios across Europe, Asia, and North America.

The rcp family has worked on more than 400 projects, including: Songs of Silence, the Bus Simulator series, Angry Birds Epic, Angry Birds Evolution, Windstorm, Sacred Legends, Shadow and Bone, and The Ascent. Our interactive experiences include an internal VR project for BMW, a long-running platform for Teva, and a training game for the Bundeswehr.

Your role

As a Social Media & Community Manager(f/m/d), you will play a crucial role in building and engaging with the existing player base and acquiring new community members.

You will be tasked to create a thriving gaming community around the title, as you'll work closely with our development team, publishing, and marketing teams to ensure our players' voices are heard. Your passion for strategy gaming, understanding of community growth hacks, excellent communication skills, and dedication to community building will be critical in shaping the success of our next big game.

The kind of stuff you’ll be doing:

  • Communicate with players on social media platforms like Discord, Reddit, Twitter, TikTok and Steam forums. Answer questions, respond to feedback, and address concerns. Share player insights with the development team to help improve game development.
  • Plan and execute engaging text, visual, and video content, like blog posts, dev diaries, vlogs, anigifs, and live video streams
  • Keep the community informed and interested in the latest game updates, game events, and exciting news from behind the scenes, highlighting the passion behind our development process
  • Plan and host community events, contests, and activities that unite players and foster community. Work with the marketing and development teams to ensure event promotions are well-coordinated and aligned with communication plans
  • Make sure that players follow our community guidelines and code of conduct. Moderate discussions and keep the community respectful and welcoming to everyone
  • Track users' engagement, analyze the data and report community or social media-related KPIs to the management team
  • Actively reach out to content creators on YouTube and Twitch to secure the broadest possible share of voice for game assets and news
  • Cooperate with Product Management and Communication teams and actively deliver marketing milestones

Who are we looking for:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Community Manager, Social Media Marketer, or a similar role in the video game industry, preferably in an independent or IP-owning Development Studio
  • Experience working on at least one game already released, where you participated in the community or other marketing-related position
  • Passion for video games, especially strategy games, and a strong understanding of gaming culture and communities
  • Basic skills in video editing and graphic design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of social media platforms' backends, community management tools, paid and organic means of user acquisition, and community growth tactics
  • Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative community engagement strategies
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings if needed, to accommodate community events and international time zones
  • Open to travel

The ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience with content creation, video editing, and live streaming
  • Familiarity with game development processes and understanding of technical aspects of video game production
  • Knowledge of German or other languages
