Private Equity Associate and Analyst

Cathay Capital is a global investment platform managing >€5.0bn AUM in a range of investment strategies with more than 120 employees.

The Private Equity Team is currently investing from 2 fund vehicles with a combined size of €1.0 billion and targets small- and midsized companies with positive impact in the Healthcare, Enterprise Software and Consumer industries. The Munich office is responsible for coverage of the DACH region.

To support deal sourcing and execution capabilities, we are currently looking for an Associate (1x) and Analyst (1x) to join the Munich office full-time.

Tasks

You will become an integral part of the deal team to drive:

• Origination, evaluation and development of deal opportunities within targeted sectors
• Due diligence and supporting analyses, including commercial research, financial modelling and coordination of external partners and advisors
• Cathay investment process and committee meetings
• Support existing portfolio companies with strategic agenda and participate in board meetings

Requirements

Associate:

• +2y of full-time experience in private equity, strategy consulting or M&A advisory
• Project work in healthcare or technology sectors (with a focus on digital-related topics)
• Modelling experience relating to valuation and/or market sizing
• Track-record of leading workstreams

Analyst:

• Internships in private equity, strategy consulting or M&A advisory
• No specific sector experience required
• Strong fundamental knowledge of accounting and valuation principles

General mindset and personality:

• Outstanding analytical and critical thinking with fact-driven judgment and attention to detail
• Effective and clear communication style and ability to assess, balance and formulate ideas in a structured and transparent manner
• Self-starter mentality and high level of initiative, ownership and driveNative in German with written and verbal fluency in English. Knowledge of the French language is a plus
