JOB PROFILE: Proposal Writer

JOB LOCATION: Carrollton, TX

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Proposal Writer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and creative professionals to transform complex technical information into compelling, winning proposals. Your responsibilities will encompass everything from conceptualizing innovative solutions and strategies to refining existing documentation to meet evolving requirements. As a vital contributor to our proposal development process, you'll use your analytical, editorial, and writing talents to craft persuasive messages that align with our firm's strengths and competitive advantages.   • Collaborate with writers, illustrators, word processors, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather concepts, solutions, processes, approaches, and strategies in coordinating/preparing drafts for publication.
  • Develop document content from reading previous proposals, requests for proposals, and interviewing subject matter experts.
  • Translate complicated technical specifications and information into practical language.
  • Research, analyze, and convert data into written narratives, graphics, and presentations.
  • Identify gaps in the information received and assign questions to SMEs, business owners, and /or partners as required and manage its completion.
  • Review and revise existing documentation to meet evolving requirements.
  • Use analytical, editorial, and writing skills to help proposal teams develop persuasive messages and focused proposal language relating to prospect’s expectations and our firm’s differentiators/competitive advantages.
  • Prepare responses to technical proposals by leveraging a thorough understanding of evaluation criteria and winning strategies.
  • Establish and enforce the use of standard formats and styles for technical documentation.
  • Provide level of effort estimates and status of completion for assigned deliverables.
  • Create, maintain, and coordinate document control systems and processes for multiple and simultaneous proposal projects.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and creative idea generation for proposal content, including innovative solutions and approaches to enhance proposals.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a knowledge base, ensuring that previous proposal content, case studies, and reusable content are readily accessible for proposal development and continual improvement.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in proposal writing and incorporate new techniques and strategies into the proposal development process.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers and multimedia specialists to create visually engaging and impactful proposal materials, including graphics, charts, and presentations.
  • Develop and manage a review process, coordinating input from various team members and stakeholders to ensure the proposal's accuracy, compliance, and persuasiveness.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Should possess an above-average skill ability and knowledge of PCs.  The ability to develop, create, and utilize spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), word processing software (Microsoft Word), and creative content and document development programs (Adobe Creative Suite). 
    • Ability to be flexible, dependable, and possess excellent follow-through skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or equivalent is required
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in proposal management, technical writing, or editing, preferably in a transportation or AEC related field.
