Hire Resolve is currently seeking a Safety Officer for their client, a compliant and reliable company specializing in heavy-lifting and electrical solutions. As a Safety Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to OSH regulations, detail-oriented, and capable of quick and effective action during emergencies. The goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the development of OHS policies and programs.
- Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics such as noise levels and the use of machinery.
- Conducting risk assessments and enforcing preventative measures.
- Reviewing existing policies and measures, and updating them according to legislation.
- Overseeing installations, maintenance, and disposal of substances.
- Stopping any unsafe acts or processes that appear dangerous or unhealthy.
- Inspecting premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity, such as failure to use protective equipment.
- Facilitating safety training programs for employees to ensure understanding and compliance with safety protocols.
- Investigating accidents or incidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Requirements
- Holding a degree in safety management, engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant work experience and certifications such as SACAMP accreditation are also valued.
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer, demonstrating a track record in implementing and maintaining health and safety standards.
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices relevant to heavy-lifting and electrical operations.
- Experience in writing comprehensive reports and policies for health and safety management.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics related to safety metrics.
- Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with safety management information systems (SMIS) is advantageous.
- Outstanding organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail to ensure thorough compliance and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present and explain health and safety topics to diverse audiences.
