Position Purpose
As a direct report of the Chief Marketing Officer, with a dotted line reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Director, Brand and Advancement Strategy serves as a member of both the Marketing and Resource Development leadership teams and will be responsible for facilitating, guiding, and aligning brand narratives and creative deliverables throughout the business development packaging process and approach for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA). This role is critical in ensuring clear, compelling and consistent storytelling for high-level engagement with donors, corporate partners, and external stakeholders. The Senior Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver messaging, materials and resources that drive engagement and reflect the organization’s vision, impact, and voice. This leader will at times partner in and/or directly deliver sales presentations and pitches to secure new business opportunities for the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Content & Packaging Approach:
• Oversee and facilitate the development and framing of targeted sales packaging materials including presentations, proposals, pitches, and other resources, ensuring consistency with brand standards and organizational goals.
• Drive the structure and narrative build of key mission and programmatic strategic initiatives across sales packaging development aimed at donors, corporate partners, and external stakeholders.
• Apply experienced fundraising and marketing best practices to ensure all content conveys and aligns with the BBBS mission, vision and strategic goals.
• Collaborate on editorial and quality assurance processes with content creators to maintain brand voice, style, and tone across all communications.
• Guide the framing of key messaging and insights into compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences.
• Partner closely with the CEO, other Senior Leadership Team members, and department leads to understand objectives and tailor presentations to the audience’s needs and interests.
• Develop high-impact presentations for executive leadership and others as needed, ensuring clarity of message and visual appeal, while aligning with brand and organizational guidelines.
• Guide the development of presentations and other resources tailored to donors, corporate partners and external stakeholders, ensuring content resonates with the specific goals and expectations of each group.
• Craft presentation narratives that maintain a consistent executive tone, ensuring the message is appropriate for the intended audience, and aligns with the overall brand and communication strategy of the organization.
• Will at times partner and/or directly deliver sales presentations and pitches to secure new business opportunities for the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) mission.
Executive Briefing & Meeting Prep:
• Collaborate in the preparation of briefing materials, owning the framing of the sales packaging process for various meetings with donors, corporate partners and external stakeholders.
• Anticipate and prepare for potential questions or concerns from stakeholders, offering well-structured responses.
• In alignment with the executive office team, partner in the development of a content calendar for CEO meetings, ensuring materials are prepared well in advance and aligned with organizational timelines and goals. Track, manage, and prioritize deadlines for presentation and proposal drafts, revisions, and approvals.
Cross-Functional Team Collaboration:
• Build relationships of direct and indirect influence within cross-functional teams (marketing, program and impact, government relations, agency growth, etc.) to produce content that is relevant, concise, visually compelling, and optimized for various mediums and channels.
• Deliver partnering leadership across the organization to deeply understand programmatic innovations and research with an eye on packaging and presentation for donors, corporate partners and external stakeholders.
• Serve as the Project Lead for key content and communication initiatives, providing strategic direction, defining project objectives, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Work in close collaboration with the Project Management Office (PMO) and other team project managers to oversee execution, while guiding the vision, priorities, and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Translate complex data and insights into simple, impactful stories tailored for stakeholders in donor, corporate, and investor landscapes.
• Work with creative and design teams to ensure visual and textual aspects of presentations are cohesive and engaging.

Education & Related Work Experience
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or a related field or experience equivalency.
Years of Related Work Experience: 10+ years of experience in content strategy, marketing, communications, or related roles, with a focus on creating high-quality content for external communications. Experience in donor relations, fundraising, or corporate partnership development is required. 7+ years of leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams, preferably in a nonprofit, corporate, or executive-level setting required. Experience with high-profile stakeholders, donors, or investors, including developing customized messaging for such audiences, and experience in storytelling for social impact or mission-driven organizations are highly desirable.
Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working with senior leadership to develop and execute high-impact presentations and communication strategies; Exceptional storytelling skills with a proven ability to create compelling narratives tailored to diverse audiences; Ability to achieve measurable results through data-driven content strategies; Experience in using performance metrics to inform and refine messaging and content development; Advanced interpersonal skills; Service-oriented mindset with excellent client relations, written and verbal communications; Experience collaborating with multiple departments to gather insights and align messaging across the organization; Ability to collaborate with multiple departments via indirect influence to gather insights and align messaging; Experience utilizing and working within project management platform/programs, like Asana; Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, timelines and budgets within fast-paced environment while maintaining a commitment to high quality, detail-oriented work; Ability to work independently in achieving results consistently on deadline; Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas to leadership and stakeholders; Ability to manage sensitive topics and represent the organization professionally in high-pressure situations; Deep knowledge of marketing communications and cultural trends; Ability to manage complex issues with various stakeholders to desired outcome.
