About the Job

Zyte is building high-performance, globally scalable data platforms that will support our current and future growth in a highly innovative environment. 

The role of Head of Engineering (Platform) will lead the engineering teams responsible for our marketing tech stack, self-service eCommerce purchasing, billing & fintech portfolio, stats & usage APIs, and our central app.zyte.com and Scrapy Cloud platforms. This role also takes responsibility for Product QA teams who matrix across all our technology products. 

The leader of this group will be responsible for two key areas of the Zyte data discovery and collection platform, reporting to the CTO. Firstly, we’re pioneering a whole new Zyte AI Experience to help our customers find and collect the web data they need to power their business strategies. This leader will play a key role in driving the tech vision for Zyte’s UI and UX experiences for discovering data and self-service B2B buying. Secondly, our Scrapy Cloud platform is central to our recently released AI Scraping capabilities. This engineering leader will play a critical role in defining the direction and leading the build teams for our core jobs orchestration, workflow and sequencing tech along with our associated HubStorage platform(our systems that stores and process a huge amount of web data).

You will be at the intersection of engineering, innovation, and product management. You will be deeply experienced in at least two, passionate about all three, and conversant with stakeholders in all.

Requirements

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical vision, strategy, and design for all these product areas
• Take responsibility for the technical direction, priorities, and overall quality of the tech stacks in this area
• Manage all staff / teams by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
• Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to influence the product roadmap 
• Lead the creation and execution of the technical roadmap aligned to the business goals / product vision
• Foster a Team-of-Teams culture
• Maintain and drive a portfolio of Research & Innovation projects including the embedding of GenAI / LLM capabilities across our platform
• Take responsibility for support, maintenance and operations including incident response 
• Represent difficult trade-off decisions and solutions clearly to senior leaders to help them understand decisions and available options. 
• Leverage your technical knowledge to drive technical trade-off decisions across your teams and other teams in the wider organisation
• Collaborate, dive deep, and go hands-on with our engineering teams during architecture & design, build, and launch phases
• Be a key partner for our Product, Commercial, and other Business teams
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation across the Platform
• Contribute as part of the technology leadership team and collaborate with colleagues building out Zyte’s wider technology product portfolio

Requirements:

• Deep expertise building and maintaining complex commercial products
• 10+ years of relevant product engineering experience or equivalent 
• Be a recognised technical & product leader
• Have a highly collaborative working style 
• Deep understanding of modern UI/UX tech stacks (including headless CMS) and B2B eCommerce tech stacks
• Expert in distributed / Cloud systems and high-performance environments
• Demonstrable expertise and experience in driving innovation with deep technical vision
• Deep knowledge of metered data products
• Strong working knowledge of the state-of-the-art in engineering, data management, security, cloud products 
• An excellent communicator with proven influencing and negotiating skills
• Ability to articulate complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
• Ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels
• Be extremely customer-focused and passionate about operational excellence
• Natural ability to work independently and without boundaries
• The ability for critical thinking outside your immediate sphere of responsibility
