Commercial Real Estate Senior Accountant

Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in overseeing key accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within our real estate portfolio. This includes responsibilities in treasury management, cash flow projections, lease administration, and managing relationships with vendors and investors. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of GAAP, with specific experience in real estate accounting, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Treasury and Cash Management:
- Oversee daily treasury functions, including monitoring and managing cash flow.
- Prepare and analyze cash flow projections to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
Investor Funding Requests:
- Prepare funding requests and distributions for investors as required.
- Collaborate with the finance team on capital calls and returns.
ACH/Wire Relationships:
- Draft and review standard reference requests for establishing new ACH/wire relationships.
- Ensure all ACH/wire payments adhere to company policies and banking regulations.
Accounts Receivable (AR) Management:
- Regularly review AR aging reports to assess the collectability of outstanding balances.
- Recommend and implement appropriate write-offs or reserves as needed.
Accounts Payable (AP) Management:
- Oversee accounts payable functions, including issuing checks, setting up wire/ACH payments, and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date vendor files, and assist with resolving vendor inquiries.
Lease Administration:
- Manage the lease administration process, ensuring adherence to GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
- Handle accounting for complex leases, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the real estate industry or a related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, particularly in relation to real estate accounting and lease administration.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with JD Edwards and Yardi is a plus.
