About the Role:

As a PHP Backend Developer at Ultimaker, you'll be instrumental in designing and implementing robust backend solutions to power our digital ecosystem. Leveraging technologies like Docker, GitHub Actions, GCloud, Redis, and ElasticSearch, you'll play a vital role in optimizing our backend infrastructure for performance, scalability, and reliability. From developing APIs to integrating data storage solutions, your contributions will directly impact our global community of 3D printing enthusiasts. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to collaborate on projects related to Thingiverse, our renowned platform in the 3D printing community, adding an exciting dimension to your role. 🚀💻

 

What You'll Be Doing:

- Collaborate with front-end developers to design and implement APIs and backend services.

- Dive into our existing codebase, making structural changes and improvements as needed.

- Utilize your knowledge of Docker, GitHub Actions, and GCloud to automate deployment and streamline development workflows.

- Leverage Redis and ElasticSearch to build advanced recommendation systems and enhance user experiences.

- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

- Showcase your communication and teamwork skills, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.

- Embrace curiosity and a proactive mindset, asking constructive critical questions and driving continuous improvement.

What You Bring:

- Solid experience with PHP and SQL, with a strong understanding of backend development principles.

- Familiarity with Docker, Git, and Jira, with experience in version control and issue tracking.

- Agile mindset with experience working in Scrum teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

- Knowledge of Redis and ElasticSearch, with experience building recommendation systems.

- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.

- Willingness to dive into legacy code and make structural changes as needed.

- Ability to ask constructive critical questions regarding codebase, tooling, and way of working, and take action accordingly.

 

Bonus Points:

- Experience with React and webpack, with the ability to work on full-stack projects..

- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub profile showcasing your work.

- Python and Node.js knowledge, with the ability to work on diverse technology stacks.

- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (or any cloud hosting platform), redis or ElasticSearch
