What's the Opportunity?
Are you passionate about software performance and eager to contribute to a dynamic Product team? As a Quality Engineer Intern, you will play a crucial role in expanding load testing capabilities and enhancing the performance and reliability of our software. You'll have the opportunity to develop and execute automated performance test cases, identify performance bottlenecks, and collaborate closely with our development team to drive continuous improvement in our performance testing framework.
This is a summer internship lasting 10 weeks starting in June, located onsite in Omaha, NE.
You can expect to work 30 hours per week, between the hours of 9am - 3pm. Starting wage is $21/hour.
You Will:
- Develop and Execute Test Cases: Assist in developing, automating, and executing performance test cases to validate the scalability, reliability, and performance of our software applications.
- Contribute to Test Automation Framework: Help enhance our existing test automation framework by adding new test scripts, improving existing ones, and integrating them into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Analyze Test Results: Collect and analyze performance testing data to identify bottlenecks, potential issues, and optimization areas, providing actionable insights to the development team.
- Tool Setup and Configuration: Configure and maintain performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter) in the testing environment to ensure accurate and reliable test execution.
- Collaborate with Development Teams: Work closely with developers and other team members to understand application behavior under load and define performance testing requirements.
- Document Test Processes: Create and maintain documentation for test cases, test execution steps, and performance testing results, ensuring transparency and repeatability.
- Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest testing methodologies, tools, and best practices to enhance the performance testing framework.
What You Have:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript) and an understanding of scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with basic testing concepts, such as unit testing, integration testing, functional testing, and performance testing.
- Basic knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Basic understanding of databases and SQL, as performance testing often involves validating how applications interact with databases under load.
