Navan is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our Corporate GL team. The Accounting Manager will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP), corporate policies and external audits. This person will play a key role in the company’s month-end processes and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and analytical accounting skills, a team-first mentality, and the ability to remain agile in a high-growth and dynamic environment.
This role will report to the Director of Accounting and will manage a team.
Navan is a hybrid working model and this role has a requirement of 3x a week in our Palo Alto or San Francisco office.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrates a strong technical understanding of US GAAP principles and a hands-on approach to delve into the financial details
- Manage the monthly close process, which includes reviewing journal entries and fluxes
- Review and/or prepare month-end account reconciliations and ensure the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of supporting documentation
- Managing ASC 842 accounting schedules
- Review/Manage capitalized implementation costs
- Work cross functionally with various stakeholders in the accounting close process, including international accounting teams, FP&A, Revenue, Tax and non-accounting teams, to ensure seamless execution of close processes
- Assist in the review and preparation of financial statement footnotes
- Assist in financial reviews and audits throughout the year, including managing PBC lists and driving deliverable requests internally
- Perform SOX internal controls over assigned areas
- Provide training and guidance to accounting and finance team members as needed
- Ability to identify problems, research, reconcile discrepancies, and perform root cause analysis
- Proactively work on initiatives to implement operational accounting efficiencies through system and process improvements and control enhancements
- Other ad hoc projects and financial reporting as assigned
What We're Looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus
- 6+ years professional experience, with at least 2 years in a Big 4 or professional services firm
- Experience in NetSuite, Floqast, MS Office, GSuite a plus
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (US GAAP), and internal controls
- Experiencing managing the month-end close and quarterly footnote preparation/review
- Commitment to professional development and staying current with accounting trends
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-growing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including staff management, coaching, and team building
- Strong interpersonal, communication and messaging skills

The posted pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position and is subject to change based on business need. To determine a successful candidate’s starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
For roles with on-target-earnings (OTE), the pay range includes both base salary and target incentive compensation. Target incentive compensation for some roles may include a ramping draw period. Compensation is higher for those who exceed targets. Candidates may receive more information from the recruiter.
