School Hours: M-F 7:00a-3:00p (Part-time and full-time available!)
Salary range for this position is $30 - $38 per hour
Aspire Living & Learning is currently seeking an Art Teacher to work out of one of our Approved Private Special Education Programs (ALL Academy) in Stamford, Naugatuck, and/or Trumbull, CT, providing services to children who have been outplaced to our program due to social, behavioral, and/or academic needs.

The Art Teacher at Aspire Living & Learning plays a vital role in developing and providing specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with autism spectrum disorders, pervasive developmental disabilities, and a variety of other disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates and administers school art curriculum to align with the school mission.
- Demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and application of art curriculum.
- Employs a diverse range of artistic mediums, enabling students to intellectually and emotionally analyze and evaluate artistic expression.
- Continuously assesses student learning and progress, adapting instructional methods to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Delivers personalized and small-group instruction when deemed suitable and effective.
- Utilizes a range of teaching strategies, methods, and learning principles to help students appreciate and understand different aspects of art.
- Fosters a positive learning environment that highlights personalized instruction.
- Chooses and orders suitable art supplies and equipment, keeps inventory records, and ensures materials are readily available.
- Evaluates and applies modifications, accommodations, and intervention plans for students.
- Cultivate a positive and productive workplace atmosphere to enhance team morale and productivity.
- Participate in and complete training sessions as delegated by management to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Conduct training as required and assigned.
- Perform any additional job responsibilities assigned by supervisors or team leaders to support the organization's smooth operation.
- Accept reassignment as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree
- CT Certification #042 Art PK-12 preferred
- Knowledge of art standards and curriculum
- Must have satisfactory background checks
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Working Conditions:
As an Art Teacher dedicated to supporting children in the school setting, you'll find yourself immersed in a dynamic and impactful environment. Here's what you can expect regarding working conditions:
- Primary work is done within the classroom however it is expected that staff will monitor/work with students during indoor/outdoor physical activities (playground/gym); support students during academic, related service (Speech, OT, PT), and behavioral programming.
- This role may encounter challenging behaviors and situations, requiring patience, empathy, and effective behavior management strategies and the ability to perform Physical Management Techniques (PMT) as needed.
- Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- May be required to travel.
- Working conditions may vary depending on the specific classroom, and the assigned children’s needs.
