Description:
This role is more focused on Dev/Ops, so it will have a heavier focus on Automation than Development specifically, but you can assume that for the dev need it will be more focused on past experience with application development as the focus, as opposed to systems focus.
It's a 6 month contract to start, but will very likely continually extend to 18 months in full. Let me know if you have any questions!
General Responsibilities:
Design, develop, debug, and modify components of ServiceNow software applications and tools. Drive technical implementation at the application/product level for small to mid-sized projects. With assistance, design, spec, and schedule a component or feature of 1-4 weeks of duration. Provide quality implementation of a component or feature (typically 1-4 weeks in duration) with peer and manager support. Provide improvements to solutions for a given problem. Resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur with help from peers or managers. Follow through on details and drives issues to closure with help from peers or managers. Support development of documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others. Approach technical staff for help and training when necessary. Collaborate with and learn from all members of technical staff. Learn to contribute to requirement definition process. Assist with judgment calls with peer and manager input/assistance.
o Participates in and provides input to requirements definition.
o Invent Client solutions to challenging technical problems
o Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs
o Design, develop, debug, and modifies components of software applications and tools.
o Drive technical direction at the application/product level for small to mid-sized projects.
o Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance; provide technical expertise in identifying issues that impact service delivery.
o Participate in the definition and promotion of engineering best practices within the team.
o Contribute to advancing the team's design methodology and quality programming practices across the team
o Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others.
o Work collaboratively with all members of technical staff, program management and testing in the development of assigned components.
o Follow through on details and drive issues to closure.
o A minimum of 1-3 years of software development experience on production web services is required.
o Experience with Java, database technologies, web technologies, and SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) is required o Experience with the full SDLC and shipping software using Agile and KANBAN methodologies a plus
o Experience in ITSM solutions (Remedy, ServiceNow) highly desirable
o Proven experience delivering production-quality server side applications in a professional software engineering role, developing in Java platforms.
o Ability to take on entire problem spaces, determines the path forward, and deliver solutions.
o Proven ability to work cross functionally to drive the design and implementation of new features. o Proficient with at least one major scripting language (Python or Ruby desired)
o A MS/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline preferred
