Accountant

On behalf of our client, SpaceOpal (https://spaceopal.com/), we are looking for an Accountant to support the Manager Finance and Controlling by executing all necessary tasks to ensure adequate company accounting and reporting.

Spaceopal is the prime service operations contractor for the European Galileo Satellite Navigation System and manages all Galileo Service Operations. The awarded European Commission (EC) contract to Spaceopal is more than just its satellites in space. Galileo Service Operations will provide high-quality positioning, navigation and timing services to users across the whole world as a civil-controlled service with guaranteed continuity of coverage.

For this position, we only consider candidates who currently live in Germany.

What is expected from you:

• Responsible for the posting of supplier invoices, monitoring accounts payable and reconciliation of sub-ledgers with the general ledger incl. provisions for outstanding invoices
• Asset accounting and maintenance of the statement of changes in fixed assets Carry out the monthly VAT returns
• Prepare monthly postings for compliant IFRS closing
• Booking of monthly travel expenses and credit card statements
• Execute supplier payments, daily booking and disposition of bank accounts and monitoring of liquidity status
• Key user tools in financial accounting, especially for the ERP system (SAP FI)
• Active participation in the implementation and further development of the ERP program SAP S/4HANA
• Monitoring of petty cash
• Support in miscellaneous accounting and administrative tasks such as archiving or storing

What you offer:

• University degree in a relevant field (Economics, Business Administration/ BWL, Accounting), appropriate high school degree with certification and relevant work experience.
• At least three years of professional experience in accounting, particularly thorough knowledge of HGB and IFRS accounting principles.

• Knowledge and experience in cash and assets accounting, and good understanding of tax and VAT matters
• Capacity to most effectively use office automation systems for accounting and controlling

• Independent working style along with analytical thinking
• Outstanding communication and team skills
• Hands-on mentality
• Assertiveness and confidence working in an international team environment
• Fluent written and spoken German and English, knowledge of Italian is appreciated
• Fluency in standard office automation tools; MS Office (particularly Excel), Email, Internet
• Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management is an advantage
