Scope:
Assists the Director/ Assistant Director of Housekeeping in managing housekeeping operations to include rooms, public areas and back of the house areas to achieve and maintain the hotel’s high standard of cleanliness.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ø Assists in the hiring, training and career development of all housekeeping employees; assists with performance evaluations and communicating performance standards to employees.
Ø Inspects the level of cleanliness in guest rooms, storage areas, laundry areas, restrooms and public areas.
Ø Assists in scheduling staff according to standards and forecasted occupancy; assigns daily work tasks to employees.
Ø Assists in the ordering and receiving of linen and cleaning supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels necessary for efficient operation of the department; assists with monthly linen and supply inventory.
Ø Ensures the completion of the Housekeeper’s Report and communicates clean and available rooms to the Guest Services Department.
Ø Documents and communicates maintenance requests to the Engineering Department to ensure hotel service quality standards are met.
Ø Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
Ø Displays a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
Ø Follows company philosophies, policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.
Ø Conducts training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.
Ø Fulfills Manager on Duty shifts.
Ø Ensures hotel is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage Hour and Health laws.
Relationships:
Internal: Guest Service: Communicate status of rooms, coordinate services, and resolve problems.
Engineering: Communicate anything needing repair.
External: Guests: To provide service.
Vendors: Order and receive supplies.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and two years experience in housekeeping or similar industry, to include supervisory experience. Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance.
Certification and/or License Requirement: Alcohol awareness certification as required by local or state government agency. Housekeeping certification as required by franchise.
