Property Accountant

Our client is a commercial real estate asset management firm focused on retail properties. We are looking for a motivated Property Accountant to join our team and support the management of our asset portfolio.

Position Overview:

The Property Accountant will report to the Controller and assist in managing accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to handle accounting tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experience with Yardi and CAM reconciliations is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage AP and AR functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Track cash flow and prepare monthly client distributions.
• Post recurring journal entries for property tax, insurance, and accruals.
• Maintain general ledger and prepare monthly financial statements.
• Assist with monthly reporting for clients and lenders.
• Analyze operating variances and ensure compliance with mortgage/loan covenants.
• Prepare and review CAM reconciliations and operating budgets.
• Handle property tax and insurance billings, ensuring timely payments and tenant invoicing.
• File sales and use tax returns in compliance with local regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) and Yardi Property Management Software.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and CAM reconciliations.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
