General Summary
The Lighting Cameraperson is responsible for ensuring the efficient set up and control of cameras and studio lighting equipment on assigned scenes for a stop motion animated feature film. This position works closely with production staff to ensure projects meet scheduling objectives while achieving the aesthetic and performance requirements of the Director.  

Job Functions 

  • Support the Director and the Director of Photography by accurately carrying out instructions regarding shot composition and development.  
  • Set parameters of the shot and ensure the camera/lighting equipment and programs are setup accurately.  
  • Liaise with Visual Effects (VFX) team regarding visual effects, shot complexity and requirements.
  • Communicate schedule and general logistics with Director, Director of Photography, Production Manager and Stage Coordinators.
  • Direct the movement of cameras, lighting, and other equipment on a scene, prioritizing and coordinating multiple setups.
  • Disseminate information seamlessly from Stage crew to Editorial team, and vice versa.
  • Meet agreed upon schedules while maintaining a high standard of quality for camera operation and lighting responsibilities.
  • Provide instructions and direction to the Assistant Camera team, Motion Control Operators and Electricians working on the scene.  
  • Contribute to the creative process by assessing and/or testing how the elements of performance, art direction, lighting, composition, and camera movement come together to create the cinematic experience.   
  • Work with Director of Photography and stage leadership to ensure the efficient allocation of finite shared equipment and crew resources. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of high-end lighting and camera experience in commercial, episodic or feature film.
  • Strong knowledge of camera/cinematography and lighting.
  • Knowledge of camera angles and lighting techniques.
  • Strong sense of visual composition, perspective and movement.
  • Understanding of in-camera and CG effects.
  • Ability to grasp requirements of a shot in a cinematic sense.
  • Ability to multi-task, switch tasks quickly and efficiently as priorities change.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Detail oriented.

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works under typical stage conditions and is exposed to variable indoor temperatures. The noise level is usually quiet or moderate.
