In this role, you will oversee the shipping and receiving areas within the operation. You will manage freight orders, reconcile shipments, verify rates and routes, and ensure accurate settlement postings. This role is essential to maintaining efficient and cost-effective shipping operations. In addition, you will work closely, collaboratively, and cross-departmentally, focusing on the company goals, objectives, and customers’ needs.
Responsibilities and Duties are but not limited to:
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching & accountability for all operation issues.
- Effectively use programs that enable accurate shipping (i.e., QuoteWerks, UPS World Ship, ODFL.com, Serial Number Viewer, FAAC Label Maker, Wasp Label Maker, and Microsoft Office)
- As the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in identifying and resolving all discrepancies in Warehouse or Shipping, such as inventory mismatches or delivery delays. Your ability to address these issues will significantly contribute to the efficiency of our operations.
- Manage safe work practices, safety procedures & incident / near-miss investigations.
- Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations, policies, and procedures. Your vigilance and adherence to these guidelines will be instrumental in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, a key priority for our operations.
- Facilitating effective communication and teamwork between the Packaging, Processing, and Logistics teams is a crucial aspect of the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor role. Your people skills will be highly valued in this role, as they are essential to the smooth operation of the department.
- Accurately calculates the shipping cost for all orders using weight and measurements.
- Ensures destination/postage information is correct, tracks order delivery, and responds to customer shipment inquiries.
- Your role is crucial in collaborating with customers to resolve interrupted or lost shipments. Your ability to empathize with our customers and resolve their concerns will be essential to your responsibilities, reinforcing our commitment to excellent customer service.
- Maintains the inventory of shipping supplies.
- Monitors shipping processes to devise new, more efficient delivery methods.
- Other duties as assigned may include assisting in other departments or participating in special projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of Supervisory/Leadership experience within manufacturing, leadership skills, understanding of basic principles of the manufacturing process, ability to make decisions, and the willingness to follow policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Required Licenses: Valid Driver’s License, Valid Forklift Driver’s License
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages as needed (50 lbs).
- Ability to work overtime as required.
