The Director, Strategic Finance is a highly visible role which will support strategic decision-making, resource allocation, and overall performance of our multi-brand platform.
Reporting to the VP of Strategy, the Director, Strategic Finance will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing financial budget models and leading the financial planning and reporting process.
This role requires proactive leadership, strategic and critical thinking, and effective communication. The ideal candidate will be a personable, team-first leader, skilled at working collaboratively with stakeholders across departments, regions, and business units. We are seeking a high-agency individual who demonstrates a commitment to contributing wherever is needed to achieve team goals.
*a.k.a. Brands home office is located in California, however, this role is remote and we are open to candidates in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of annual operating budget and trend-based rolling forecasts on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Work closely with brand stakeholders to build consensus around realistic yet attainable targets that align with our business strategy and long-term strategic plan.
- Synthesize inputs from a variety of stakeholder sources while taking a hands-on approach to financial forecasting and modeling.
- Conduct detailed financial analyses to evaluate cash flow, balance sheet and credit metrics, unit economics, marketing strategies, customer lifetime value, and other topics to drive strategic decision making across the organization.
- Perform variance analysis, trend analysis, and scenario modeling to assess the impact of business decisions on financial performance.
- Execute financial and operational due diligence on investment and acquisition targets, using these insights to build and own financial projection models.
- Prepare concise yet thorough performance update presentations for our Board of Directors and senior management, summarizing financial results and key performance indicators to drive informed decision-making.
- Continuously refine and upgrade financial infrastructure, tools, and systems to best reflect business needs, improving decision-making processes and emphasizing repeatable, automated processes.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in the retail or apparel industry
- Proven ability to lead financial forecasting and analysis in a large-scale consumer retail environment
Knowledge & Skills:
- Advanced Excel / financial modeling skills
- Proficiency with software systems such as NetSuite, Planful, and Tableau is highly desired
- CPA, CFA, or relevant professional certification is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis tools
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment, and
- Demonstrated experience in motivating and developing a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with ability effectively monitor project timelines and manage to key deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and business needs with a desire to continuously learn, expand, and improve
