One of our top clients in the Financial Services industry is in the process of expanding their US-based IT team and they are looking to bring on a Sr. Business Analyst for a multi-year project. This position will be based out of their offices in downtown Manhattan with some travel to their Metro Park, NJ office. The company specifically services the Foreign Exchange market and has built out a platform utilized by some of the largest banks in the world.
The role of the BA team is to engage with all key stakeholders on a particular initiative to establish their business and functional requirements. These requirements are then documented in a clear and concise manner and in collaboration with other Technology teams (e.g. the design, application development and test teams) and relevant stakeholders, so it's ensured that they are appropriately met by a satisfactory solution. In most cases, the solution will consist of new or enhanced software applications.
Responsibilities:
Support the business in defining their Business Requirements, employing industry recognized techniques
Evaluate the impact of proposed changes and articulate any business impacts
Document Functional Requirements based on the defined Business Requirements and work with other teams to ensure that the requirements are fully understood.
Baseline Business and Functional requirements and ensure that robust change control processes are employed thereafter
Engage with technical resources both within the organization and within suppliers to ensure that Business and Functional requirements are accurately translated into solutions
Review and provide feedback on the Test Strategies and Solution Outlines produced for compliance with the Business and Functional requirements.
Provide support to projects and business functions as a Subject Matter Expert, liaising with external vendors where necessary. This will include:
Supporting projects to assess and prioritize application defects
Supporting projects to resolve requirements issues
Contribute to and/or construct Business Cases
Develop into an SME at a functional level for the assigned systems
Take responsibility for knowledge transfer to other team members to ensure no single points of failure
Establishing and maintaining key artefacts to support knowledge transfer process
Support the business in satisfying their training and development objectives providing SME support
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of banking systems and practices
Knowledge of SWIFT and ISO20022 messaging standards preferred
Experience using structured methodologies and writing Business and Functional requirements documents
Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience supporting implementing IT changes using this
Good track record of being an SME in Banking and Finance sector
Must be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner
Must be a strong team player
Must be passionate about the quality of service delivery and continuous improvement
Must be proficient in using Microsoft Visio and Office applications
Exposure to Microsoft Sharepoint is preferred
Must be a self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail.
