EFL - English as a Foreign Language - Teacher

Teach English Language Aqusition at Amazon Valley Academy's community English program, referred to as EFL.

Applicants should have a passion and enthusiasm for working with students of all ages as well as a desire to invest in their spiritual lives. A love of learning should be evident in the applicant's life, and he/she must wish to foster the same in his/her students. Duties will include:

• Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling.
• Teach classes as assigned following curriculum.
• Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
• Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to his/her potential.
• Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals.
• Other duties as assigned by the administration or necessary to run a safe and Godly school.

Requirements

• Possess a deep love for Christ and for students.
• B.A. or B.S. degree from a recognized University or College.
• Hold or pursuing appropriate professional credential, certification and degree.
• Two years teaching is required for all non-Brazilian citizens and permanent residents to qualify for a work visa.

About Amazon Valley Academy

AVA was founded in 1958 as a missionary school for foreign missionaries serving in northern Brazil and is presently managed by Believer’s Bridge, a U.S. mission organization. Over the years enrollment expanded to include Brazilian nationals. Today about 75% of the student body is comprised of Brazilian students. AVA is accredited by ACSI and MSA.
