At Kido we are always striving for excellence and pushing boundaries so that the early years education we deliver is of the highest possible standard.  Our nurseries only come to life with our brilliant educators in them.  We have over 100 learners at Kido who are studying a work based route to qualification.  The majority of our learners are apprentices, studying their level 2, 3 or 5’s and we also support students through their Early Years Initial Teacher Training.   As part of our commitment to driving quality we are also looking at becoming an Employer Provider for Level 3 apprenticeships in 2025.

We believe that by investing in developing our people we can create a culture that promotes and values learning throughout our whole organisation.  By delivering outstanding learning experiences for our people, we can create outstanding experiences for our children too. We aspire to set people up on a career trajectory which constantly delivers development and progression.

The role:

In 2024 we were recognised as one of the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers, placing 66th overall and 5th out of the 10 childcare providers named in the top 100.  We want to continue this legacy and grow on our success.  This role will need someone truly passionate about training and learning.  Someone who has the skills and knowledge required to drive delivery to our cohort of learners, support them, keep them on track and be the crucial link between them and their tutors.

The role will require you to manage multiple stakeholders, providing outstanding support to our students whilst also working in partnership with our course providers and managing our government apprentice account (DAS).  You will need to be able to inspire and enthuse learners whilst also having the attention to detail and meticulous reporting needed to satisfy external regulatory bodies.

What will you do?

As part of our ultimate aim of being able to deliver our apprenticeships ourselves, you will need to hold an assessor qualification, or be willing to undertake training to become an Assessor yourself.

You will sit within the People Team reporting into Catherine and working closely alongside Tez as Head of Training and Quality. Whilst these roles are not exhaustive, you can certainly expect to do the following:

  • Manage and maximise usage of our apprenticeship levy and sourcing other available funding.
  • Grow our apprenticeship offering and work closely with recruitment to make sure we’re attracting the right people to our apprentice roles and positioning ourselves as an employer of choice for learners.
  • Act as the central point of contact for the apprenticeship strategy within Kido, liaising with the People Team, Ofsted, ESFA, schools, colleges and other strategic partners to provide advice and resolve issues where appropriate.
  • Ensure there are robust systems to evaluate and quality assure our apprenticeship programmes, implementing evidence based continuous improvement plans where required.
  • Long term, manage the creation of our own Kido Level 3 qualification including designing lessons, teaching resources, assessments and managing off the job reporting and training.
  • Develop a mapped out career pathway for apprentices where we celebrate milestones towards their qualification and plan out their career journey post achievement.
  • Own and lead on the Sign Off process so that our learners can be counted towards the ratio level under which they are studying. This should focus on quality and competency within induction periods.
  • Provide support and guidance to managers and teams with apprentice learners.
  • Manage our Apprentice Mentors in each setting to ensure they are giving their learners the best possible support and encouragement.
  • Guide and support learners through their journey with Kido from recruitment  to achievement, ensuring that high standards of performance, teaching, learning and assessment are delivered throughout.
  • Embed Kido’s unique culture and values throughout every aspect of the apprenticeship journey.
  • Effectively manage a cohort of 100 learners, manage regular enrolments through our own recruitment as well as acquisitions.
  • Meet with Best Practise Network monthly to ensure that your learners are actively engaged in learning and are making good progress. Ensure that they are supported effectively to meet key milestones and achieve timely.
  • Supporting our learners will involve: Attending sites to observe teaching and learning sessions,  helping review training plans, assessing knowledge, skills and behaviours, complete observations with learners, assess and provide detailed and constructive feedback on learner progress.
  • Liaise with learners and their managers to ensure that the learners’ training and development needs are met. Ensure that the off-the-job training is being delivered throughout the practical training period of the apprenticeship programme.
  • Maintain our Apprentice system (Bud) and our Government Apprentice account (DAS) to ensure that it is always up to date and accurate.

Requirements

This role will need someone who is highly motivated and confident to work under their own initiative whilst being able to take feedback and guidance.

You will have experience of running an Outstanding or Good nursery and you must be passionate about learning and equipping people with qualifications that will enhance their career journeys. Ideally you’ll have completed an apprenticeship yourself.

You should be a huge advocate for quality, education and self development.

You will ideally be qualified to a full and relevant Level 6, QTS or EYTS standard, this is so that you can deliver higher level qualifications ultimately. We would consider applicants with a Level 3 but may need to structure the role slightly differently to achieve our long term aims.

This role will form part of our hub team and will require nursery based travel to support with delivering support to our learners.
