the job: 

amika is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Retail Education and Events to support our store growth in the retail channel.  The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing education and event strategies for the company’s North American retail partners: Sephora US & Canada, Sephora @ Kohls. This individual will partner cross functionally (Sales, Social, Trade Marketing) to align all retail facing initiatives and be the day-to-day contact for the accounts Education and Event team. This position requires a detail-oriented individual and team player who can communicate effectively, manage multiple concurrent initiatives, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

 

location: remote (US only)

salary: $115,000 - $130,000 + benefits

 

what you'll do

Corporate Planning

  • Build out Education strategy with retailer-specific needs – by season, launch, and year.
  • Map out Education deliverables with resources needed to support retailer expectations.
  • Identify brand competitors within each retailer by key SKU/launch for a frame of reference when developing trainings
  • Develop solution-oriented, forward-thinking programs to meet ever-changing business needs

Retailer Trainings

  • Develop training content & curriculum for retailers & field team to support
  • Gratis planning & execution to support core & newness
  • Discover new ways to educate remotely via technology, including webinars, zoom, etc.
  • Lead Sephora corporate trainings: New Store Opening guidelines, Expert Trainings, Webinars, or virtual trainings
  • Assist with tailoring assets for International retail use

Team Development

  • Lead field training calls for product launches & events
  • Partner with Accounts team to develop retail budget for gratis, carstock, sampling, etc.
  • Support Territory Brand Managers for elevated training opportunities

Event Direction

  • Own store-level & FSC event strategy
  • Partner with cross-functional teams for large-scale events, such as Store Leadership or Education Conferences
  • Develop innovative Event & Training in a Box strategies, including collateral, gratis, TOAs
  • Facilitate elevated events and trainings

 

must haves:

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in the retail training space; haircare or skincare strongly preferred
  • Up to 35% travel required
  • Sephora experience & relationships at corporate level required
  • Expert knowledge of developing trainings for retail partners
  • Inspirational leadership style with excellent ‘classroom’ and training skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confidence when addressing both key stakeholders and new audiences alike
  • Strategic thinker with examples of solving problems and taking initiative
  • Outstanding team player who is able to work collaboratively with all internal & external partners
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to embrace and facilitate change
