Forge & Build is immediately hiring a Area Manager for Hardware/Lumber to join our Columbia, MO team for the Midwest region, based out of Columbia MO. Our Area Manager will have an opportunity to help build the Hardware and Lumber division across the Midwest region. Expected travel would likely be around 50% throughout the Midwest region, along with remote work and office related work out of the headquarters in Columbia MO.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing and providing leadership to store general managers for hardware and lumber yards.
- Responsible for supporting the store managers and their sales growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, safety initiatives, recruitment, training, and development of staff and operations.
- Position requires strong delegation, leadership, and operational skills to effectively manage high volume performance.
- Leadership for Store Managers:
○ Develop, train and retain quality management staff for all locations.
○ Assist in interviewing & hiring, alongside Human Resources
○ Collaborate with Safety regarding initiatives throughout locations
○ Champion & lead continuous improvement efforts across locations
○ Set annual goals, conduct performance reviews, and develop all direct reports.
○ Train, develop, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching on requirements such as: product knowledge, selling
○ Ensure superior customer experience consistently
- Project management oversight of key initiatives and related projects
- Work collaboratively with EquipmentShare sales team members to build and nurture existing customer relationships
- Present and demonstrate the benefits of EquipmentShare’s capabilities to various customer audiences (Business Development)
- Serve as an expert and advocate for the EquipmentShare Hardware/Lumber division
- Provide technical support and manage various sales-oriented projects and efforts
- Financial oversight with P&L responsibility for distribution center capital investments, delivery and operations budgets.
- Develop store budgets and forecasts to maximize sales and control expenses.
- Create and execute strategies to maximize sales including the us of localized inventory
- Travel as needed (our Regional Manager will have the use of a company vehicle for travel).
Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong leadership skills and a record of assisting customers with specialized needs.
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft and Google suite of programs.
- Ability to create and present presentations to various levels of decision-makers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel as required within the district and region.
- Must have initiative and creativity to be able to provide new ideas to help grow the team and the company
- The ability to recognize the need for change and ability to execute
- Proven success leading in a servant leadership environment.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution
- Experience working with vendors and purchasing
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or related experience in lieu of degree
- Experience in a retail, product services or related environment required.
- 3+ years experience in multi-unit field management leadership required.
- 5+ years of lumber yard and/or hardware experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- This is a safety sensitive position and any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a 10 panel drug screen
