Site Reliability Engineer

Technologists at WorldQuant research, design, code, test and deploy firmwide platforms and tooling while working collaboratively with researchers and portfolio managers. The Team: We operate WorldQuant's alpha production system that schedules and executes millions of jobs every day. Working with us you will operate and develop software with a range of different technologies like relational database, Linux system, message broker, monitoring toolsets, container and serverless orchestration, high performance grid computing. You will have chance to work with a large-scale distributed system comprised of hundred powerful servers.

What you will do:

• Operate WorldQuant alpha production system, do on-call rotation, investigate and troubleshoot issues with investment entities, response to incidents
• Improve the reliability and operability of alpha production system in a high velocity environment
• Program, test and deploy production software, tooling for operation
• Work closely with Portfolio management and Research team in WorldQuant to understand their needs and act on their requests.

What You'll Bring:

• A bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field
• Experience with the Linux platform and toolset such as bash, git, and regex
• Experience in monitoring metrics and logs aggregation and analysis with a focus on performance optimization
• Fluency in one or more major programming languages like Python, Java, Golang
• Experience using relational databases and SQL query
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; Fluency in the English language
• Familiarity with technologies like Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Prometheus, Gitlab CI, Slurm is a big plus
• Passion about software engineering and operations, be strongly interested in building and maintaining well-operational software system
• The curiosity to dive into complex issues, find root causes, and suggest or implement solutions
