Position Title: Solaris Admin
Location: Princeton NJ (onsite)
Duration: 6 Months

Responsibilities :-

• Adhering to SLAs
• ITIL Processes awareness and adhering to
• Mentoring / Training Team Members
• Handling tickets / requests
• Perform root cause analysis
• Troubleshooting technical issues
• Defining processes and ensuring that the processes are adhered to
• Oversees and is responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration and migration
• Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
• Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
• Responsible for building / maintaining a test environment
• Responsible for strategizing a backup plan and test plan for failure scenario
• Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction
• Suggests new technologies and design changes
• Monitoring and maintaining SLA requirements by the team members
• Planning Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
• Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security level
• Testing / Auditing/processes as required from time to time
• Identify Skill gaps and plan for training / knowledge updating
• Assist / Plan / Procedure in Data centre consolidation efforts
• Perform H/W & performance tuning and maintenance
• Day-to-Day reporting analysis tasks
• Vendor co-ordination & followup

Technical Requirements

• Installing, configuring and maintaining Oracle Sparc and X64 Servers.
• Installation and configuration of HA environment using Sun or Veritas Cluster.
• Configuration and administration of Sun and Veritas logical volume manager.
• Installing and Maintaining Solaris Jumpstart environment
• Patch and Package administration
• Printer Administration
• Firmware upgrade ( T-series,M-series )
• HBA Upgrade
• Physical to virtual Migration (Zones )
• Virtual to virtual Migration
• Oracle VM for Sparc ( LDOM ) Administrator
• Physical to virtual Migration (LDOM )
• Writing shell scripts to acomplish day to day system administration task
• Configuring and supporting domain on Sun Fire Servers
• Troubleshooting Hardware and Operating system related issue
• Administer and configure various FS like UFS, VxFS, ZFS, Pseudo FS
• Capacity planning and fine tune system for optimal performance
• Understanding of SAN and NAS storage.
• Administration of NIS or LDAP environment
• Configuring Unix Security baseline
• Troubleshooting Hardware and Operating system related issue
• Performance Management & fine tuning
• Experience in System Fault Tolerance Design, Business continuity and Disaster recovery planning

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
• Good documentation skills
• Good working knowledge of MS OFFICE (Including MS Project and Visio)
• Should have a great customer handling skills
• Able to handle unforeseen situations
• High level of acceptance
• Can drive HCL’s value and its methodology

Other Skills / Experience

• Worked on Production systems
• Datacenter understanding
• Experience with Server Migration, Installation, Upgrades and Patching

Experience on following will be added advantage

• Samba
• DNS
• NIS+
• Sendmail
• LDAP
• Monitoring Tools (like BMC Patrol, Client openview, IBM Tivoli)

Years of Experience

• Relevant : Minimum 5 yrs in Solaris Administration / Support

Desired Certifications

• 1Z0822 Oracle Certified Solaris 11 Professional
• 250-252 Administartion of Storage Foundation 6.0 for Unix

Education requirements
Bachelors / Masters / Equivalent
