ULTRA MOBILE is seeking a talented Systems Operations Engineer I to join the Tech Ops Team in Costa Mesa, CA! Individual reports to Manager, System Ops. Role is in office. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Systems Operations Engineer I, you have the mind of an engineer and the soul of a systems administrator. You are the guardian angel of our systems infrastructure and an advocate for the customer experience. You have no trouble communicating your take on problems that arise. Enterprise and network administration are in your DNA, and you have the blood test to prove it.

Your usual day of awesomeness includes:  

  • Monitor all system transactions, read dashboards, and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to system performance and customer experience.
  • Investigate and diagnose problems, develop effective solutions, and implement corrective measures.
  • Perform appropriate analyses for business and customer impacts and report findings to direct supervisors.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure seamless integration of system components and process efficiencies.
  • Communicate production outages, incidents, and maintenances to the larger organization.
  • Prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including system design and procedures. 
  • Perform well-documented day-to-day operational tasks.

As an Audio visual (AV) technician, also known as an audio visual production specialist or audio video specialist, you will set up, operate, maintain audio and visual equipment for live events, and help construct, instruct, and train on any AV architecture. This is an on-site position. The responsibilities include:

  • Architect any new A/V equipment purchases and setup, including initial training and troubleshooting.
  • Empower current Service Desk team to run day-to-day A/V operations.
  • Take lead in all large scale company events where A/V is required.
  • Equipment setup: Setting up and operating a variety of equipment, including projectors, sound systems, microphones, video cameras, recording equipment, amplifiers, video screens, and speakers.
  • Equipment maintenance: Maintaining equipment inventory, performing maintenance, arranging repairs when required, and ensuring equipment is up to safety standards.
  • Equipment troubleshooting: Testing and resolving equipment issues, and providing technical support and advice to clients.
  • Quality control: Monitoring sound and video feeds to ensure quality, and mixing sound inputs and feeds.
  • Project management: Working with the technical director to create technical and production requirements, and monitoring projects from start to finish.
  • Site assessments: Performing site assessments.
  • Staging design: Working with creative design and sales teams to create staging designs.
  • Managerial responsibilities: Directing other technicians or workers in setting up or taking down equipment before and after events.

On-call Rotation

This position is required to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation once approximately every 4-8 weeks. This on-call rotation schedule is subject to change depending on business needs.

  • When primary point of contact on call, required to respond to incidents within 15 minutes
  • When back-up point of contact for on call rotation, 15 minute response time
  • Reviews and escalates issues as determined appropriate

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ Years of Microsoft Office or similar products
  • 5+ Years of computer hardware experience
  • 1+ Years of maintaining system infrastructure
  • 1+ Years of operational support 
  • Ability to express yourself clearly and work well with others
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Self-direct and ability to take the lead when necessary 
  • Familiar with ITIL and best practices on processes
  • Basic understanding of Monitoring/Alarming complex systems
  • Basic troubleshooting and fault isolation skills

In support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the range of starting pay for this role is $80,000 - $90,000.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location.  We also offer a variety of benefits including health, disability insurance, 401 (k), flexible spending accounts, EAP, education reimbursement, parental leave, unlimited vacation, bonuses, and company paid holidays.  The specific programs available will vary depending on state, start date, and employment type.
