Private Equity Associate

• Screening and evaluating potential investment opportunities including market assessment, competitive positioning and initial underwriting and deal structuring
• Performing detailed business, financial and industry due diligence for potential investments and making recommendations to the investment committee
• Developing robust financial projection models to support deal underwriting and deal structuring
• Assisting in the structuring of new investments including determining capital structure, potential equity instruments and management options
• Assisting in the negotiating of legal documents (e.g., purchase agreements, operating agreements, employment agreements and credit agreements)
• Providing hands-on support to portfolio companies
• Assisting investment professionals in sourcing new investment opportunities through category research and developing sector theses, identifying potential targets and calling efforts

• One or more years of investment banking, private equity or strategic consulting experience
• Superior academic and performance records
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills including valuation and financial modeling as well as comfort with accounting
• Thorough due diligence and transaction execution skills
• Good organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work against strict deadlines
• Spanish speaking ability looked upon favorably but not required
• Entrepreneurial; excellent teamwork, communication, and written skills; passion for knowledge; drive for excellence; creative; and a high level of maturity

• Mergers & acquisitions
• Leveraged finance (high yield or leveraged loans)
• Corporate finance advisory (consumer preferred)
• Strategic consulting (with consumer industry experience)
