We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Metallurgical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the properties, processing, and performance of metals and alloys.
Your key responsibilities will include overseeing the extraction, refining, and processing of metals, optimizing metallurgical processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
This role includes working closely with mining, processing, and environmental teams to develop and improve metallurgical techniques and technologies that maximize resource recovery while minimizing environmental impacts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on the properties and behaviors of metals and alloys.
- Perform failure analysis, corrosion studies, and material testing to ensure materials meet specified standards.
- Use various techniques, such as metallography, spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction, to evaluate material composition and quality.
- Design and optimize metallurgical processes such as casting, forging, welding, and heat treatment to improve product quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to develop new materials or improve existing materials to meet specific applications or environmental standards.
- Ensure materials and processes comply with regulatory standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement quality control measures to track material performance and ensure reliability.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, maintenance, and R&D teams for resolving complex metallurgical problems.
- Maintain documentation and records of testing, material specifications, and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with metalworking processes (e.g., casting, welding, heat treatment) and material analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in metallurgical software and tools (e.g., MATLAB, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, FEA tools).
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in metallurgical engineering, preferably within [relevant industry, e.g., manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, etc.].
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ASTM, ISO, and ASME.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or other relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
We would be happy to get to know you and your skills better and see how we can support each other's growth.
