Job Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, specializing in composites, to play a crucial role in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for our autonomous surface vessels. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of high-quality ASVs for the DoD.
Responsibilities
- Process Development: Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes specifically for composite materials used in the production of ASVs. Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the production workflow.
- Collaboration: Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of composite design specifications into the manufacturing process. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and qualify materials necessary for production.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and implement quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of product quality in composite manufacturing. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for any production issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in composite manufacturing processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate advancements into the manufacturing process.
- Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for composite manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. Work closely with regulatory bodies to ensure all manufacturing processes adhere to applicable standards.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to production personnel on composite manufacturing processes to ensure proper execution. Troubleshoot and address any issues that may arise during production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Composites Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in composites manufacturing engineering, particularly in the production of complex structures or systems.
- Familiarity with autonomous systems, robotics, or maritime technologies is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to autonomous maritime systems and composite materials.
