The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager will report to the Regional P&C Director and lead the Health & Safety team. This is a critical role, with a focus to provide tools and resources that support a safe working environment across the warehouse in Yennora and corporate office in Sydney CBD. This role is an exciting opportunity to dive deep into Operations processes; identify risks through data and first-hand experience; build and execute programs, and improve processes to eliminate risks; and influence our people leaders and employees to sustain a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively lead and develop the Health, Safety & Wellbeing team of two
- Work and collaborate with stakeholders and partners to align on project /program goals, resources and provide hands on advice across 2 sites in an operational and corporate environment
- Develop and implement strategies to create and maintain a proactive safety culture
- Embrace our health and safety platform and ensure utilisation of the systems for capturing health and safety information (for eg hazards, incidents, injuries) is effective for reporting purposes
- Communicate the overall program roadmap and provide periodic status updates to the stakeholders, and present programs / projects to senior leadership on a regular basis, such as performance, significant incidents, Lead and Lag indicators, and projects in HS&W strategy.
- Review the emergency response systems and participate where required in crisis management response.
- Ensure Safety Management System audits are conducted and corrective actions plans are executed
- Develop and promote a wellness programs (including mental health)
- Oversee procedures for management of Workers Compensation claims and EAP
- Oversee the injury management and return to work program for all injured workers
- Adopt a continuous improvement mindset to spot opportunities, think outside the box and approach things with passion and drive with the vision to always looking to improve our health, safety and wellbeing practices
What success looks like
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role leading a small team of health and safety professionals is essential
- Experience in a business that has both an office and operational environment
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety Management
- Demonstrable experience implementing a behaviour-based model of safety
- Significant understanding of all safety and related legislation and Workers Compensation claims
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment
- Creative and effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and develop solutions.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and experience working in a business partnering model.
- The ability to manage and develop wide stakeholder relationships, use your influencing skills and a pragmatic mindset, building great partnerships is key to your success
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to talk with different audiences
- Ability to measure and evaluate the Health & Safety ROI
